De La Hoya, Pacquiao Set To Battle In Vegas
Oscar De La Hoya, boxing's
"golden boy;" will announce tomorrow that he
will be fighting Manny Pacquiao on December 6th
in Las Vegas, NV. "Last week the deal was 90
percent dead, but we were able to revive it. The
fact that it has been so quiet is a good sign,"
Golden Boy's CEO Schaefer told ESPN.com from
Mexico. This could possibly be De La Hoya's
last fight of his storied career, but he
couldn't have picked a better opponent to go out
against...

Merriman's An Idiot
Shawn Merriman's been told
he's facing a career-ending injury if he
continues to play without having surgery on his
injured knee. "I'm going to play," Merriman
texted the San Diego Union-Tribune. "I'll deal
with it when it's time to get surgery." Dealing
with it when it's time to get surgery could be
too late and might be the time to deal with
never playing competitive football again. It's
my opinion Merriman's decision is idiocy...

Ellis Out Three Months; Maybe
More
The Golden State Warriors were
dealt a nasty blow when they found out Ellis
suffered a high ankle sprain during off season
workouts.
ESPN broke the story earlier today. Ellis
just signed a 6-year, 66 million dollar contract
last month. He's slated to make 11 million this
year and every year following for the duration
of the contract. He's set to return to action
in December but he could possibly be out
longer. With the departure of Davis to the
Clippers the Warriors will be looking for a PG
to come in and fill some minutes until Ellis is
healthy enough to return and contribute...

Stood Up By 1320 KFAN!!!
Yesterday The Weekly Sports SoundOFF was offered
a hosting spot on 1320 KFAN - Utah's Super
Sports Network today at 4:00 PM MST. However,
the over-the-top and opinionated David Locke
didn't follow through on his invitation to The
Weekly Sports SoundOFF to host the show. This
opportunity presented itself when 1320 KFAN's
host replied to a text we sent in earlier in the
day regarding a topic being discussed. The
conversation went as follows:
TWSSO: KFAN Come on guys, can we get
a better topic. How about some NFL.
There's only so much you can do with this
topic. Sheeeesh! (topic involved Phelps,
again!)
1320 KFAN: When do you want to come
in and host?
TWSSO: KFAN I would love to come host
any time. Check out my profile at
www.twsso.com...

1320 KFAN: How about Wed at 4?
TWSSO: Locke you're a great host and
I like the intensity you bring to the show.
I'd be more then happy to come and host.
Sheeeesh!
End of conversation. The original text I sent
in was meant for the Powerhouse due of Dave Fox
and Alema Harrington, but it wasn't received
until the next show ("Locked on Sports") was on,
which was hosted by David Locke. Locke was the
original founder of 1320 KFAN 10 years ago but
quickly bolted to Seattle when the Jazz started
to tank....

Are NBA Players Showing Us Their Real Potential?
The "Redeem Team" is dominating opponents up and
down the floor during the Olympics. Dwayne Wade
looks like he's playing better then he did when
he lead the Heat to an NBA Championship. LeBron
and Carmelo are showcasing skills and intensity
on defense we normally don't see during the
regular season. Kobe's giving us what we see
from him night in and night out defensively.
These guys definitely have something to prove
during these Olympics and don't want to fail.
Figuratively speaking, are these guys possibly
making the biggest mistakes in their career by
showing us their hand? Or are they simply
giving us a preview of an intense NBA season?
